Review: Regret Free Parenting

Regret Free Parenting

Raise Good Kids and Know You're Doing It Right

By Catherine Hickem
Published by Thomas Nelson

Regret Free Parenting is written by Catherine Hickem, who is a psychotherapist.  Mrs. Hickem main message is about being an intentional parent.  She is the founder of Intentional Moms.  Regret Free Parenting presents seven principles for moms to use to raise their children without regrets.

I really enjoyed this book.  I think it is a great book for moms to read and be able to raise confident children and be able to look back and feel satisfaction in how they have prepared those children.  I really found her explanation of the difference between controlling and being intentional helpful.  There are many stories in the book from her family and her practice, showing both positive examples and negative results when parents aren't parenting in a way that is best for their children.  Mrs. Hiekem gives God his proper role in this book and I appreciate that.  There is practical information and hope for the teen years and how to build companionship and trust, but still be the parent.  This is a book I hope my friends would read.

I was provided a free copy of this book for the purposes of review, the opinions expressed are my own.
